The Client |

Miles Davis was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th century music. Davis adopted a variety of musical directions in his five-decade career which kept him at the forefront of a number of major stylistic developments in jazz.

The Solution |

One of my Dad’s jazz idols was legendary Miles Davis and I was introduced to the musical genre at an early age. When Miles Davis passed away, I wanted to create a personal art piece that I could enjoy in my own home. Using mixed media, I drew a side profile view portrait of Miles Davis in charcoal and pastels. Once the drawing was complete, I photographed the piece and brought it into Photoshop and created a colorful collage with subtle backgrounds on each profile that represented a favorite Miles Davis album.
